I'm using an Xbox Elite v1 controller wirelessly, and every time I hold the guide button to turn it off, it launches Steam's Big Picture mode. It only started doing this recently. That was part one of my issue. Part two was stopping the Xbox button from opening steam. Launch steam. Enter big picture mode from the top right button. Tap the settings cog. Big Picture is a platform feature of Steam which cannot be disabled.
