Necro with full minion build + blood and death magic is still good, but as you said I believe it was nerfed a while back cause you could basically be unkillable with the lifesteal. If you wish to solo elite/champ/bounty mobs, scourge is the way to go, unless the opponent is moving a lot such as the frog hero challenge in Verdant Brink.
