Sinomacrops are tamed by using Chitin, harvested from creature corpses. When taming the creature, hold the Chitin and walk towards the Sinomacrops. Do not sprint or jump as the creature will fly away. Feed the creature and once fed, the Sinomacrops will fly away and you will need to follow it. You can use the Taming Track HUD for this!
So the new wiki ( Sinomacrops - ARK Official Community Wiki ) still says that you can drop a wooden cage over a sinomacrops to help with taming, but I recall that at one point shortly after adding Sinomacrops, they patched most of the workarounds to prevent you having to chase the damn thing down.
