All these adjustments would make China very similar to Japan in 1444 in terms of unification and internal diplomacy, and Japan usually unifies in my experience.

Oda's are better by practically any metric other than settler increase (and Oda's goods produced makes them better at colonial than Japan's settlers) I would stick with Oda ideas because they are some of the best military ideas in the game combined with 10% CCR, 10% Province Cost, 5% Tech Cost, and 10% Goods Produced.A+ ideas: Oda, Tokugawa, Shimazu, Date. I think with 1-2 no cb wars you have enough points of entry to conquer Malacca entirely. Also, going for Mandate of Heaven is almost a natural fit for Japan. Also, with religions you have a ton of options. You can do through incidents: Confucianism (personal favorite), Mahayana, Christian. You can stay Shinto obviously.

Early Game [edit | edit source]. Ryukyu starts the game with a force limit of only 6 regiments. The player will not be able to attack Japan or Korea as the countries there will be much stronger, but may wish to turn their attention southward. Maynila is a good choice, as they are fairly weak, and conquering them won't adversely affect relations with other Filipino countries too much.

Korea's mission tree is very crazy, it gives claims on the entire regions of Japan, Manchuria, North China, South China, and Xinan. Of course, this requires you to go up against the Ming behemoth and the Japanese daimyos. I did do it 10 years earlier than this even with a forced seppuku but Japan was... not in a good state after I finished. Lots of OE, lots of rebels, lots of debt, way behind on tech, lots of corruption. Probably much better to do it a little more slowly and have Japan not get screwed sideways for decades after.

Mar 24, 2020 · Japan is as outlandish as Italy and Germany, which is to say, real and does happen, but not in EU4's timeframe, so I'm not too upset that it shouldn't really be formed. However, just like Italy, it has some quite balanced and interesting Ideas and mechanics if you don't go Katana Gatling guns as Oda, or Japanese Crusader State as Otomo.
