Riven mods are special mods that have randomised stats. You'll need to complete the quest "The War Within" to obtain your first one. You'll then only be able to obtain Riven mods by completing sorties. A lot worse if in a team that wont try to leave it alone, they just die too easily. Give them same armour values as a boss.

We were playing as just us 2 on Cassini. My scorcher target completed (3/3). We ran it again and then a lancer target came up which is neither her target nor mine (mine was completed).
