A Faxon or Ballistic Advantage on sale cane be had for around $100. Even if the barrel only last a few thousand less than a CL barrel the nitride barrel is better choice in the end from a cost for the life of the barrel. Both options are still good though. Faxon makes really good barrels as well though so either will do fine. I have both BA 8.3" Hanson and Faxon 9" gunner, just pick the one that correctly on sale, there is no difference. Whichever barrel has the features you want at the price you can afford, as both Ballistic Advantage and Faxon make great barrels for the price.

As a baseline, we know that with the right load, the BA can shoot lights out. Buying some FGMM and hitting the range basically gave me a turnkey 600-700 yard Recce style carbine. I'm comparing a Sionics 16" ML LW, BCM ELW 16" Mid, and Ballistic Advantage 16" BA Hansen Mid-length .625 GB.If you are okay with the extra weight of the Hanson, it has a better profile. Gunner is good, and I personally run one on my lightweight build, but the Hanson should handle heat and a can better if that is in the cards for you.
