In Phase 3, the restrictions were still there, in fact they added tabs for each type of restricted item. I was actually referring to how, in 1.0, you apparently couldn't put in damaged items.

Be very selective of what you keep in armory chest, desynth / trade for GC seals / sell everything else. If you craft, treat inventory, Chocobo saddlebag, and retainers as caches, in that order. The most likely things you will use a lot keep in inventory.

Apparently, this came from a follow up to the Live Letter and were posted to the reddit translation channel. To comment myself, I'm not overly bothered by our personal inventory bag not increasing. However, they absolutely should offer a third free retainer, especially as this wouldn't impact the servers as they mention above. In reality, they dealt with this issue by simply giving us more space and getting rid of those darn PS3 players.

And since Inventory fills in block order, it will fill the top blocks first, then move to the bottom blocks. I personally prefer the in-between option of two blocks at a time for that reason. VascoDazkar • 10 mo. ago. 99% of the stuff players keep is entirely useless. The space given by inventory and saddlebag is more than enough. Add in retainers and it becomes a complete non issue. At most, I have dark matter, buff food, cordials and tinctures on me and crafting stuff in my saddlebag. Other stuff I outsource to retainers.

I understand this is a huge ask, and I also understand many players in the community have very strong opinions about inventory management. However, I have with all of the new gear added from Shadowbringers / +all expansions with raids / dungeons / etc it's become incredibly difficult to manage inventory for gear.
