The guy said there is no chart he could send me but he did say the serial number: MR22xxxC signifies a manufacture date in 2012. No other information was given. My guess is that it was manufactured in February 2012.

If you do have a 39A, and not a 39, the serial number's were either on the lower tang under the lever, or on the top tang, depending on the vintage. If you do not have the numbers there then it's possible it's been removed during a refinish-rebluing. Try pulling the buttstock off and look on the sides of the tangs. The one I'm asking about in this thread is a Marlin Model 39A, 24-inch, ".22 CAL. S. L. & L.R.". The serial number under the lever is 242XX. It has a small "JM" in an oval stamped on the right side of the barrel. The stock is plain. The rust primarily extends from a couple inches past the forend to the muzzle.
