You could ask for a replacement modem as well. The E31U2V1s are technically not the newest modems offered by Spectrum today and the vast majority of them are going to be refurbished pieces or "old.". While it's unlikely to have an issue due to sitting on a shelf, it is certainly not impossible.

These series of modems are able to utilize 2.5G down but Charter does not have any current internet packages to let you have that speed yet. They are better than the 3.1's however, they look identical to them minus the 2.5G on the back.
