On 26 January 1913, the Captain's remains were finally re-interred in a magnificent bronze and marble sarcophagus at the Naval Academy Chapel in Annapolis. Created by the Paris Mint to commemorate the occasion, there were only 201 of these medals made. 1 cast in gold, 100 in silver, and 100 in bronze.Several sarcophaguses in limestone, marble and granite have been found in this area. This study presents conclusions regarding the context and form of the discoveries; the limestone and marble sarcophagi were imported, while the granite ones, in which the deceased was celebrated in a specific manner, were produced locally.
