I can't necessarily recommend that because I don't know the method the guy in the picture used, I don't know your hair type etc etc, and going freeform isn't going to guarantee you anything since freeform locs are so unique to the wearer. My locs from two years ago looking nothing like they do now. Just do what you can to get you started now.
