It all depends on how you want to be playing the game. If you mainly want to do afk gains, then build accordingly (boost active combat skills, sharpened axe, guilded sword, afk combat gain skills). If you want to keep one character built for active play, just invest all your points in damage and passive damage boosts, rather than active skills.

Active DK is good in W4 once you get the elite class. Squire is absolutely awful though, probably the worst class for pushing maps aside from Maestro. Its definitely a very slow choice for pushing through W2 or W3. Archers are your best bet for W2/3, as jhcreddit suggests.

Once you unlock more characters, get them fighting and dump all their talent points into luck until you can get regular classes (warrior, mage, archer - I made my second, third, and fourth characters in this order) for them.
