Jan 17, 2022 · The original McCrorey YMCA at 334 S. Caldwell St. was a Black community hub in now-vanished Brooklyn, Charlotte's first Black YMCA. It opened in 1951 and offered classes, club meeting rooms, and educational programs for the Black neighborhood until urban renewal forced it to move in 1969. It was recently landmarked by the Charlotte-Mecklenburg Historic Landmarks Commission. Our youth sports regional model promotes a wide variety of competition, teams, skill level, as well as exciting experiences to grow, develop and improve skills! Athletes will have games and practices at the branches within their region, throughout the season.
